When the Power Went Out: Finding Calm in a Windstorm

I got up this morning, turned on the computer, and was halfway to the kitchen when I noticed the wind. Not a gentle breeze kind of wind, but a full-blown “trees doing interpretive dance” kind of wind.

No birds in the branches outside, no squirrels doing their morning parkour. Just the sound of gusts picking up speed. Then — poof. The lights flickered once and went out for good.

At first, I was annoyed. I had plans for the day that involved, you know, electricity. But as I scrolled through updates and saw that a tree had fallen on the power line, something shifted.

Here I was, slightly inconvenienced for a few hours. Meanwhile, a tree had given its life — and all the tiny creatures who called it home were suddenly without theirs.

So, I took a breath. Lit a candle. Pulled on a sweater. And decided maybe the universe was telling me to go out for coffee instead — to sit somewhere warm, listen to the hum of life powered by someone else’s grid, and be grateful that the trees still dance, even when the music stops.

Always stay tranquil. 🌿
